Hamara Khandaan (transl. Our Pedigree) is a 1988 Bollywood drama film directed by Anwar Pasha. The film stars Rishi Kapoor, Amrish Puri, Kiran Juneja, Farah Naaz in lead roles.[1] The film performed well on box office and declared hit.
Plot
[edit]Sharda (Asha Parekh), wife of Thakur Chandra Prakash Singh (Amrish Puri), is pregnant with a fourth child after giving birth to three girls. Chandraprakash's mother gives her son an ultimatum that if Sharda gives birth to a daughter again, the Thakur will have to marry another girl, who will bear a son to carry on his lineage.
Thakur Chandraprakash, after much deliberation, agrees with his mother's decision and informs Sharda about it. Sharda is shocked by this decision and in panic, delivers a premature baby girl, but the doctor swaps it with a newborn baby boy. Thakur comes to know about it later. Thakur feels that his wife has gifted him a healthy son. He is very happy with Sharda and they name their son Vishal (Rishi Kapoor).
Vishal falls in love with Ruby Miranda (Farah Naaz), a poor Catholic girl. While her father (Alok Nath) approves of the marriage, his father (Amrish Puri) does his best to stop them from marrying.
